Introduction
Many people are okay with the general allowing of cookies, but there are some people who wish not to allow some sites or a majority of sites to put cookies on their machine (computer) for whatever reason. Because of this the main browsers (IE, Chrome and Firefox) allow for you to select specific sites you want or don't want cookies from. This guide will show you how to set up to allow cookies for the websites that you want to accept them from.
Firefox Restrict to Selective Sites
Open up your browser and go to Tools > Options.
Go to the Privacy tab.
Set the 'Firefox will:' option to 'Use custom settings for history'.
Uncheck Accept cookies from sites.
Click on 'Exceptions..."
In the 'Address of website:' type in the website's URL you want to accept cookies from. In this case it is
http://www.curse.com/
Then click 'Allow'.
It should now show the site you wish to allow cookies from.
Repeat steps for adding in the address for all the sites you wish to allow.
Chrome Restrict to Selective Sites
The the following into your address bar:
chrome://settings
Scroll down the Settings page until you see 'Show advanced settings...'. Click on the link.
In the Privacy section click on the 'Content settings...' button.
Check 'Block sites from setting any data'.
Check 'Block third-party cookies and site data'.
Click on 'Manage exceptions...'
Put in the site URL you want to allow cookies for. In this case it's for
www.curse.com
Do not include the http:// to the address.
You can set exceptions for an entire domain, insert [*.]
before the domain name:
[*.]minecraftforum.net
which will also include http://servers.minecraftforum.net . You can also specify an IP address, an IPv6 address, or a non-http URL
It should now show the site you wish to allow cookies from.
Repeat steps for adding in the address for all the sites you wish to allow.
Internet Explorer Restrict to Selective Sites
Click on the cog icon > Internet Options.
Go to the Privacy tab.
Set the setting to High or above
Click on the 'Sites' button.
In the 'Address of website:' type in the website's URL you want to accept cookies from. In this case it is
http://www.curse.com/
Then click 'Allow'.
It should now show the site you wish to allow cookies from.
Repeat steps for adding in the address for all the sites you wish to allow.
This process is of the current browsers and may change with future versions, but both past and current browser versions are very similar in how to set these up once you find the location of the settings panel.
