[Homebrew] Add "casting time" and duration to modifiers and conditions
An easy way to add pseudo-spells to magic items.
For example, I want to create a gauntlet that I can activate as a reaction and creates a shield. Currently, my best option is to give it the shield spell, but I want the shield bonus to be +2 AC instead of 5, and I only want it to last for 1 attack instead of the rest of the round.
You could also use this to cause 1-turn blindness or create a "supercharge" weapon function that takes a bonus action to activate and grants advantage to attacks for 1 minute, as examples.
Ideally, this would also involve integration with the actions tab of the character sheet. Obviously, there is a lot of customization that would require freeform fields still, but this could be a helpful base functionality for individual creators to customize further.
