Multiple Inventory Management for each character and the group
PlannedI have thread about this already:
Basically, Inventory Needs work for group and containerized interactions like bags of holding, mules, ships, party gold, personal gold effected with permissions and weight shifting when items move for encumbrance and capacity tracking. Possibly shops and other world accounts that the GM might allow Player "purchases" by trade or actual buying. I understand not everyone needs it but those who do, can't do it with the current system so we are using other systems or even just pin and paper.

This seems very comprehensive, and I'd be happy to start with, you know, a backpack (for when the characters leave their backpacks at the inn that then burns down). But yes, I want all these things, from personal item/container management to NPC/mule loading, to "I left it at the bank/homestead." Please? Kissy kissy!

+1 to this
Agree that being able to put items in a container, and being able to remove weight of items in a container (bag of holding) would be great
A party inventory page as part of that would be phenomenal... I just discovered that after a year my party seem to have lost their party gold sheet - no one remembers actually tracking it on paper. They thought it was in the App.
I made a character called 'Cart' and went back though and worked out the loot I had given and gave it to that 'player'. One player had to claim the 'Cart' to manage inventory, and now they are all super paranoid that something might happen to their unattended gear on the cart.
Really great result because they discuss where to store things and who is carrying that extra shield they found. And after fighting their way through the sewers of a corrupt town, they've realised that they have to sneak back in to town retrieve their cart. One player has land vehicle proficiency so, now, I'm looking at a daring cart chase/escape from town.
I see so much potential if players are acutely aware of what is stored in their backpack, and coin pouch, etc

As the Druid in my group, I have been making potions with my herbalism kit and then giving them to other players. It would be great if I had a way to share to the other players that are under the same campaign. Being able to trade things between players would be great where it deducts from my inventory and just shows up on theirs.

Yes! The ability to exchange items with someone in your party would be amazing. Also give the DM the ability to (if let's say a NPC Rogue wants to steal something from a player - and would hopefully role their Sleight of Hand/Stealth and would check/ask the player's Passive Perception - although I'm not sure this would work the way I'm thinking... haha... the DM would probably have to tell the Player to reload their screen and then they would automatically know something happened - but hopefully would still RP like they didn't - I don't know)
Also - I think this would extend to any Bags of Holding like items, Spell Gem like items, etc. So we could put items into those bags of holding (so the carry weight would be more accurate with having a Bag of Holding with weapons in them - rather than having to put the weight to zero on items that would be in that Bag of Holding.
Same for the Spell Gem like items to add spells into them. I'd say two options would suffice - Your Spells (so you can just choose from your spells) and Other Spells (maybe some options that come with that - people in your party - or just each Spell Caster Class since you can find these items with spells already stored.

not to invite too much scope creep - I'd like to see an overall 'party manager' feature set.
As a party historian and treasurer, I want a centralized function that will let me document party activities/decisions/financials, beyond simply exchanging items, so that I can track what important events/decisions/distributions occurred, and when they took place.

@ Robert Russell you mean like this? (https://dndbeyond.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360023830193-Player-Meta-Role-Permissions-Treasurer-Quartermaster-Scribe-and-Leader-quick-change) thought I would call the Historian a scribe.

Daniel Clay Floyd,
While I hadn't considered encapsulating the tasks by role, I can see where that could be useful. I was thinking in more general terms:
- A feature in D&DB bundled at the campaign level (https://www.dndbeyond.com/campaigns/nnnnnn) that would let a party member document a session's events by date.
- A separate feature to log acquisition of assets by the party, whether they be currency, gems, weapons, clues, etc., and those assets distribution to party members or containers (e.g., a horse-drawn carriage or a chest in a room of a party-owned keep) To take this one step further, these assets could be initially deposited into the party's "kitty" by the DM.
These are all very good ideas!

Glad this is planned.
DONE THE RIGHT WAY: it could be fully integrated with the already-implemented [container] and [movement] flags. Every item ([container], [movement], or neither) in your inventory would have a drop-down menu. That menu would include:
- [self]
- [not carried]
- each [container]-flagged item in your inventory
- each [movement]-flagged item in your inventory
Every item (including containers, mounts, vehicles, and everything else) in your inventory would have a default selection based on the following:
- all non-[movement]-flagged items default to "self"
- all [movement]-flagged items default to "not carried"
If you need to re-assign it, you can, as needed. The weight of any item assigned to a [container]-flagged item gets added to either the "self" category, the "not carried" category, or one of the [movement]-flagged item categories, based on how that [container]-flagged item was assigned. If I have a potion assigned to a [container] "sack", which is in turn assigned to a [container[ "backpack", which is in turn assigned to "self", then the weight of the potion is part of my encumbrance. If I drop the [container] "sack" in the game, then I would change its assignment to "not carried", and its weight, and the weight of the potion, would be removed from my load value.
This could (should) be integrated with a mount load tracker. Horses are not infinitely strong. It could also be integrated with some kind of container load tracker, but that's probably more detail than necessary.
This is a functionality that will realistically save people a lot of time and make DMing easier as well. I know some people just play that encumbrance doesn't matter, but it does to a lot of us. Being forced to make hard choices is part of a good game, and an encumbrance system that actually facilitates that is a real benefit to the community.
ALSO: For the encumbrance tool to work properly, you need to be able to break stacks of items. I don't always have all my rations in my pack. Sometimes, I leave most of them on my mount and just toss a couple in the pack.
ALSO: This needs to be integrated with the campaigns tool so the DM can quickly assign items to players.
ALSO: Need a tag [disencumbrance] that means the item does not change weight when stuff is put in it.
ALSO: a mechanism for a player to hand something to another player. maybe the drop-down menu can also include the names of characters that are in the Campaign?

And remember retainers, I have a Noble knight Jarl, whose affiliation requires he Can Not carry coin to buy things, only the retainers.
the second is not so picky; but devised the pouch copper for the drudge, silver for the cook, and gold for the squire, the mouse-folk knight carried the platinum.
On Avrae expanded the pouch to include (trade gems, "cg" common, "ug" uncommon, and "rg" rare.) so the Lord Jarl could by noble things. -
I think a simple and useful MVP for this would simply be showing a total of the party's gold in a screen somewhere, even just the campaign page's "characters" section.
This is one of the most important, useful at a glance but hard to calculate, things to have as a DM that I think DND Beyond is poised to solve expertly.
