A version of this functionality is planned, but the initial focus will be on adventure maps and navigating between the different rooms, etc. of a dungeon and the adventure text. So it's intended to help you run adventures.

Eventually we would like to expand that to more of the world/ city map concept as described here.

This would be an incredible resource. Heck, I'd pay extra to buy the Waterdeep book to get all that info about a city.

This is something that was mentioned during the January 31st Dev Update as planned.

Their goal is being able to link from locations on the map to their respective sections of the chapter.

A couple of features I would like to see in addition to this:

    • A hover popup with a name and description of the linked map key.
    • A link back to the map from the page section.

I can imagine this feature getting complicated quickly - but; as well as the Canonical 5e stuff, there is a fair bit more in terms of established locations going into older editions; which might also be useful (there actually aren't many locations in the Dragon Heist book, compared to known locations from older editions).

I'd also like two other functions on an interactive map:

    • The ability to have a DM add markers, and notes on/for the marker would be fantastic.
    • The ability to share only given locations with the players on their version of the map.

Today's (Feb 07) developer update showcases a sneak peek of what they're working on for this feature. I think this is a good place to provide feedback on it as the staff regularly check this place for requests and feedback.

Some features I'd like to see:

    • Upload custom maps
    • DM/Player customizable markers (ability to add notes that only you can see, filter types, etc.)
    • Ability to adjust scale
    • Pan and zoom

This LoreMaps looks interesting, too - Although I think it depends on a Fandom Wiki and am not sure if it is kept up to date ....

I can see how you would need (temporal?) sliders to filter content by time/era ...

Also, for those who like interactive maps, I have been using BeyondHelp with DDB to DM Rise of Tiamat and it is VERY useful being able to click quickly between maps, location descriptions, and back ...

Even just being able to "drop a pin" so that you can keep track of the location of a particular NPC's house or shop that you had to make up on the fly would be super helpful.

WorldAnvil can already do this - some of the functionality even in the free version and more in the $3/month one. The upcoming Project Deios will have basically all of the functionality mentioned here (including integration with WorldAnvil).

I'd like a world map associated with my campaigns with fog of war and the ability to add markers, measure distances (straight line and following the roads and trails).
