Interactive Maps (e.g., Waterdeep, but like Google Maps)
AnsweredOne of the things that a campaign like Watereep Dragon Heist relies on is the location itself. Massive, established, and the players can go anywhere in it.
It would be incredibly useful to have a proper interactive map of the campaign setting to use while running games, so I can quickly search and say "yes, there is a blacksmiths over on Snail Street" and pull up a little information about that blacksmith by clicking the pin. Then see what they're going to cross paths with on the way over, etc. And know journey times.
Something like this: https://www.aidedd.org/atlas/index.php?map=W&l=1 but better executed.
I'd love to see a few of these, but Waterdeep especially seems a perfect candidate for it.

A version of this functionality is planned, but the initial focus will be on adventure maps and navigating between the different rooms, etc. of a dungeon and the adventure text. So it's intended to help you run adventures.
Eventually we would like to expand that to more of the world/ city map concept as described here.

This is something that was mentioned during the January 31st Dev Update as planned.
Their goal is being able to link from locations on the map to their respective sections of the chapter.
A couple of features I would like to see in addition to this:
- A hover popup with a name and description of the linked map key.
- A link back to the map from the page section.
-
I can imagine this feature getting complicated quickly - but; as well as the Canonical 5e stuff, there is a fair bit more in terms of established locations going into older editions; which might also be useful (there actually aren't many locations in the Dragon Heist book, compared to known locations from older editions).
I'd also like two other functions on an interactive map:
- The ability to have a DM add markers, and notes on/for the marker would be fantastic.
- The ability to share only given locations with the players on their version of the map.

Today's (Feb 07) developer update showcases a sneak peek of what they're working on for this feature. I think this is a good place to provide feedback on it as the staff regularly check this place for requests and feedback.

This LoreMaps looks interesting, too - Although I think it depends on a Fandom Wiki and am not sure if it is kept up to date ....
I can see how you would need (temporal?) sliders to filter content by time/era ...
Also, for those who like interactive maps, I have been using BeyondHelp with DDB to DM Rise of Tiamat and it is VERY useful being able to click quickly between maps, location descriptions, and back ...
