This already exists. On the first page of the character builder at the very bottom you can change that character to "private". Once that's set only the owner of that character and the GM can see the character sheet for that character.

While this feature prevents other characters from seeing your sheet, it does not prevent them from seeing your level, race and class, which can completely ruin a story if your background is set on this. In these cases, the only workaround that I have found is to create individual campaigns for each character and title them thusly. For instance, if my campaign is called "Wrath of the Lich Tyrant" for instance, I would have "Wrath of the Lich Tyrant-Character A", "Wrath of the Lich Tyrant-Character B", "Wrath of the Lich Tyrant Character C" and so-on, just so everyone could benefit from my content services, without being able to see each other's information.

Update-Small problem with having separate campaigns: you can only share your content as a DM with up to 5 campaigns at a time, meaning if you have a group of 6 or more, that consolidating their sheets is required to ensure players have full access to your library. Again, if your player wishes to keep their characters actual name, race or level a secret for story purposes, then they have to give up that secret to someone in the group in order to continue having full access to the DMs library.

I would love for an option to keep your profile public but the link not showing inside the campaign page (so other people can access it only if someone shares the direct link to the character)
