Change Homebrew Subclass Spell-Slots/Spells-Learned Table
Not sure if this is a bug or working as intended. There is currently no way for me to make my homebrewed Fighter subclass anything other than a NON-caster, or a 1/3rd-caster who learns spells ridiculously slow. I understand that this could entirely be a balancing mechanic set in place to not allow for some wild west activities, but there are many private campaigns that like to indulge in wild west activities.
Personally I would suggest allowing the homebrew creator to select their spell table (Full-caster, Half-caster, 1/3rd-caster, Non-caster) and if it isn't the default for that class you can prevent it from being published. You can even put this behind the paid account paywall if you are worried about people making too many subclasses that aren't published.
If a mod looks at this to determine if this is just a current bug here is the subclass in reference:

Just clarifying that this isn't a big. Every non-caster class that gain spellcadting through a subclass is designed to be a 1/3rd caster. This is reflected in when they get the ability, how it is balanced with other abilities and how it works with multiclassing. Changing this would have a huge impact on game balance.

I too would like the ability to define the spell table. There is a lot of well-crafted homebrew out there that has been specially balanced by the creator in good faith, simply by manipulating the Spell Slots per Level table. One example is Fellozial's Ultimate Guide to Poison. I was trying to recreate the Arcane Poisoner Rogue subclass but the spell table is not a strict 1/2 or 1/3 caster's table. I realize there is potential for creating unbalanced classes but shouldn't that be up to the DM to allow such a class? If a player wants to use her own subclass and it turns out to be way off-the-charts unbalanced, the DM can simply disallow it. It's not like a Homebrew class can be snuck into a campaign on the sly. Or can it? If so, maybe that is what needs to be addressed so that custom spell slot tables can be added to the mix.
Also, I do not think DDB will allow you to even choose a 1/3 or 1/2 caster's table layout for any subclass. For example, I cannot apply the Paladin spell template to the Arcane Trickster Rogue class- one of the tricks I was trying to employ to see if I could get a closer build to the FUGtP subclass. Even being able to choose from full, 1/2, or 1/3 caster table would be a great addition.
Would love to see full custom, though. :-)
Thanks for all your hard work, folks!!! It is especially appreciated during this pandemic when we are all moving to digital tools in huge numbers to play together remotely. <3
