Currently if a magic item grants a weapon bonus damage of the weapon's type, this damage is listed separately in the notes (as for damage of a different type, like fire etc.).
This proposal is that bonus damage of the weapon's type should be coalesced into the normal damage roll.
For example, create a Magic Item weapon based on a dagger (piercing) and give it the modifier Damage -> Piercing with a fixed bonus of 2. On a character with DEX +3 and you'll have a damage roll of 1d4+3 (same as for a normal dagger), with +2 piercing in the notes, whereas these could be combined into a single damage roll of 1d4+5.
